Microsoft has announced the general availability of its Windows 8.1 OS. Currently available as a preview, Microsoft will release the final version to all Windows 8 customers on October 18. The date reflects according to New Zealand’s time zone which means most countries will receive the update on October 17.
The update will be available through the Windows Store to existing Windows 8 users and retail copies and devices loaded with Windows 8.1 will be available in stores on the same day.
Windows 8.1 brings lots of features along with better performance. Some notable features include better snap view, revival of the Start button, search, boot to Desktop mode.
