Nokia has a large sensor placed at the back, Samsung has got its Android-powered smartphone with optical zoom but what does Sony plan to do? According to Sony Alpha Rumours, Sony will launch a camera lens accessory that will snap at the smartphone or the tablet’s back. This accessory will be equipped with a built-in sensor, Bionz imaging processor, Wi-Fi, NFC and even an SD card slot. The best part of this accessory will be its compatibility with any Android or iOS device and not restricted to Sony devices and will be controlled with an app or the camera menu.
Two variants are expected – DSC-QX10 and DSC-QX100 with one featuring 10X zoom lens with 1/2.3 inch 18 megapixel CMOS sensor while the other to have RX100MII sensor and Zeiss lens found on Sony’s RX series cameras.
Sony has an event on September 4 so we can expect them to announce these accessories along with new devices on the same day.
