Canonical, makers of Ubuntu have revealed their vision today for mobile computing. Dubbed as Ubuntu Edge, it will be their take on the smartphone that will dual-boot Android as well as Ubuntu Mobile OS. Ubuntu had announced their OS earlier this year and giving the ability to users to use a smartphone OS like Android, the device does look like a good deal.
On the hardware side, Ubuntu Edge will come with a “fastest multi-core CPU”, 4GB RAM, 128GB internal storage, a 4.5-inch 720p display made out of sapphire glass, 8MP rear-facing camera, 2MP front-facing camera, LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC and a silicon-anode battery.
But all said and done, the fact right now is that the Ubuntu Edge is a concept and requires interested consumers’ help for funding the project. Canonical is trying to fund $32m by August 21 for a device expected in May 2014.
