LG’s display making subsidiary – LG Display today unveiled the world’s slimmest Full HD LCD panel that will be used for smartphones. It will be a 5.2-inch panel that will offer superior viewing angle with improved picture quality while measuring just 2.2mm in thickness and having a 2.3mm bezel.
LG says they achieved the slimness with Advanced One-Glass-Solution (OGS) that enables Dual Flexible Printed Circuits to be inserted between the panel and touch film, reducing the number of lines on the panel by more than 30 percent.
In addition to offering 1920×1080 resolution support, the display consists of RGB sub-pixels, a brightness of 535 nits and an ambient contrast ratio of 3.74:1 based on 10,000 lux.
LG hasn’t said anything on when this display will make its way to a real device but given the timing of the announcement, we can safely assume this 5.2-inch panel could be a part of the upcoming LG G2.
