As part of “spring cleaning,” Google has announced to shut down its Google Reader RSS service. This is disappointing news for many, including us who rely on Google Reader every day to read and share the latest news.
Google says despite Reader having a “devoted following” the usage of the Reader declined and would want to focus on fewer number of products.
Google Reader will shut down on July 1 so if you want to take a backup of your feeds, you can do it now through Google Takeout.
In addition to Google Reader, Apps Script, CalDAV API, Building Maker, Cloud Connect, Voice App for BlackBerry, Snapseed Dekstop and Search API for shopping will be discontinued.
