RIM’s BlackBerry Messenger service that was limited to text, video and audio, has now got the most logical extension – voice calling. RIM has announced the BBM version 7 that will allow users to call other BBM contacts. However, there’s one major caveat – the new feature works only over Wi-Fi and not regular 3G networks.
The service could prove beneficial for consumers as they can save on their operator calling minutes and even comes with enhanced features like split-screen that allows them to text and voice chat at the same time.
Interested users can download the new BBM beta for free from BlackBerry Beta Zone.
