Samsung started the 5-inch smartphone trend with the Galaxy Note, LG followed it by launching the Optimus Vu and it seems HTC will follow the Korean counterparts, with a 5-inch smartphone of their own. According to a Digitimes report, HTC is working on a 5-inch smartphone and is slated for a September release.
The report says the device will support a resolution of 1794×1080, which suggests that it will have a full HD display with software-based Android menu buttons taking up the 126 vertical lines.
Thankfully, a GLBenchmark test is there to back up Digitimes’ claim. HTC is testing a device with Android 4.0 with the aforementioned resolution and Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 CPU.
