LG showed off the Optimus Vu at the MWC 2012 few days back and today they’ve launched the 5-inch smartphone in its domestic market. The device will arrive on Korea’s SK Telecom and LG’s own LG U+. Optimus Vu’s unique selling point is its 5-inch IPS display that boasts a resolution of 1024×768 pixels and an aspect ratio of 4:3. The unique aspect ratio, according to LG, helps in improving reading experience of e-books.
As far as other features are concerned, the Optimus Vu runs Android 2.3, which will be upgradable to Android 4.0 in the near future, is powered by Qualcomm’s 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor and comes with 8MP rear-facing and 1.3MP front-facing camera, LTE support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, stylus pen support, HDMI, T-DMB, DLNA and 2080mAh battery.
The first 40,000 buyers (20,000 each from both operators) will receive an extra battery and case of the Optimus Vu.
