Sony has finally parted with its decade-old partner, Ericsson from its Sony Ericsson joint venture. As was confirmed during the announcement in October, Sony has taken over the 50 percent stake held by Ericsson in the mobile phone unit.
The unit is now a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sony and will be renamed to “Sony Mobile Communications” which will leverage Sony’s existing technologies and services.
As for existing consumers, you don’t have to worry about the change. Existing warranty and other services you got with the Sony Ericsson device will still be valid.
