Samsung announced three new phones, all on different platform for the Indian consumers. The three phones are powered by bada, Android and Windows Phone 7.
First up is the bada flagship Wave 3 that is powered by the latest bada 2.0 OS and is priced at Rs.19,600. Running on a meaty 1.4GHz processor, Wave 3 supports 14.4Mbps HSDPA speeds and comes with 5MP camera that is capable of 720p HD video recording. On the wireless connectivity front, Wave 3 features Wi-Fi with Wi-Fi Direct support, GPS, Bluetooth, all powered by the 1500maH battery. The phone will be up for grabs starting next month.
Next is the Android-powered phone, Galaxy Y that will go for a price of just over Rs.7,800. Targeted at first time smartphone users, Galaxy Y runs Android 2.3 OS and comes with an 832MHz CPU, a 3-inch QVGA display, 2MP camera, Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, 7.2Mbps, support for various Hubs, TouchWiz UI and 1200mAh battery.
Samsung’s new offering on the Windows phone 7 is the Omnia W. Expected next month, the Omnia W runs the latest version of Windows Phone aka Mango OS and is in fact Samsung’s first Windows Phone-based smartphone for India. For a price of Rs.19,900, Omnia W brings a 1.4GHz processor, 14.4Mbps HSPA, 3.7-inch Super AMOLED display, 5MP camera with 720p HD video recording support, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 8GB internal memory, A-GPS, Hubs support and 1500mAh battery.
