Gamescom — as the name suggests — is a trade event for gaming companies to show their wares but it seems Nokia will be tagging along with Microsoft to show something. Nokia is sending invites to journalists for an event on Aug 17 at Gamescom. Nokia does not say what to expect but it is confirmed that it won’t be a new device. Engadget reached out to Nokia who said that it is just a “local developer meet,” which makes us believe Nokia wants to give devs a first look as to what expect from Nokia-Windows Phone 7 combo.

As for the hardware unveil, we’re pretty sure Nokia has a lot to say at CTIA and Nokia World, which is just around the corner.
