HTC promised to release the Android 2.3 update for Desire and here it is. HTC states this ROM is only for “expert users” due to the fact that some features do not work in the release. Although the OS has got a bump, many features have been left out on account of “memory constraints.” Some of the things changed to smoothly run Gingerbread on Desire are removal of customizations, wallpapers, few HTC apps, SMS/MMS function and official Facebook app which can be re-downloaded from the Android Market.
Although HTC will release an over-the-air version, intrigued users can give it a try by installing via the 161MB RUU file.
