HTC on their Facebook account has confirmed not to release the Gingerbread update for their Desire phones. HTC claims their engineering teams were working to bring the Android 2.3 update with the new HTC Sense but couldn’t do so due to phone’s limited memory.
The reasoning is surprising to say the least because Desire was one of their flagship phones and considering some new phones like ChaCha and Salsa, Desire still has more RAM at its disposal than the new phones.
Is it a ploy to lure customers to buy new phones? If it is, I can tell you it’s not working. Just check out the Facebook thread where Desire owners are venting their anger.
