UPDATE: HTC says to resolve the Desire memory issue, they’ll remove select apps from the Gingerbread release.
Looks like consumers’ wrath was enough for the Taiwanese phone maker to change their no Gingerbread update for Desire decision. The Android 2.3 update that was initially turned down due to memory issues in Desire is now on. HTC didn’t give any explanation for the reversal but confirmed with the following statement.
“Contrary to what we said earlier, we are going to bring Gingerbread to HTC Desire.”
