Selling an Android device and locking up the bootloader is not the best way to attract sales. Apparently, HTC has learned it, which is why Peter Chou, HTC CEO confirmed via Facebook that going forward HTC won’t lock the bootloader on their devices.

Unlocked bootloader is definitely a plus for HTC as the developer community can work on enhancing HTC devices’ functionality, which in turn can help increase sales.

Hopefully, HTC’s flagship Sensation will be treated with the unlocked bootloader goodness.

“There has been overwhelmingly [sic] customer feedback that people want access to open bootloaders on HTC phones. I want you to know that we’ve listened. Today, I’m confirming we will no longer be locking the bootloaders on our devices. Thanks for your passion, support and patience,” said Peter Chou, CEO of HTC.
