Motorola has announced the successor of its Droid X phone for Verizon Wireless. The aptly named Droid X2 is the first 1GHz dual-core device to hit the red carrier and ups the bar from the previous Droid X with features like a 4.3-inch qHD display, 8MP camera, HD video capture with continuous autofocus, HDMI-out, Swype, GPS, Mobile hotspot functionality and access to Google services.
One hiccup in this power packed feature set is that the phone will initially run on Android 2.2. However, Motorola has promised to update it to Android 2.3 as soon as possible.
The Droid X2 will be available from May 19 on Verizon’s website for $199.99.
