Apple has updated its all-in-one iMac computer with a faster CPU and graphics that claims to be 70 percent faster and improved graphics up to three times than the previous generation. Starting from $1,199, the new iMacs now come with quad-core Core i5 processors with a choice of going with Core i7 CPUs, AMD Radeon HD graphics, built-in FaceTime HD camera and Thunderbolt I/O technology.
Thunderbolt is co-developed with Intel that allows bidirectional channels with transfer speeds going up to 10Gbps each. Additionally, Thunderbolt also supports other inputs like FireWire, USB, Ethernet, DisplayPort with the help of adapters. The 21.5-inch iMac will come with a single Thunderbolt port whereas the 27-inch one will feature two.
The base price for the smaller-sized iMac starts from $1,199 and going up to $1,499 whereas the 27-inch iMac pricing starts from $1,699 and goes up to $1,999.
As for the specs and price is in India, the 21.5-inch iMac is available in two configurations: one with a 2.5 GHz quad-core Intel Core i5, AMD Radeon HD 6750M and 500GB hard drive for a suggested retail price of Rs.64,900 Inc VAT (Rs.61,809.52 Ex VAT); and one with a 2.7 GHz quad-core Intel Core i5, AMD Radeon HD 6770M and 1TB hard drive for a suggested retail price of Rs.79,900 Inc VAT (Rs.76,095.24 Ex VAT).
The new 27-inch iMac is available in two models: one with a 2.7 GHz quad-core Intel Core i5, AMD Radeon HD 6770M and 1TB hard drive for a suggested retail price of Rs.91,900 Inc VAT (Rs.87,523.81 Ex VAT); and one with a 3.1 GHz quad-core Intel Core i5, AMD Radeon HD 6970M and 1TB hard drive for a suggested retail price of Rs.107,900 Inc VAT (Rs.102,761.90 Ex VAT).
