After months of negotiation with the Indian government, BlackBerry maker has allowed the Indian government to access Blackberry users’ Messenger logs. However, it’s a half-hearted attempt as RIM hasn’t allowed to monitor secure corporate emails.
Indian government had bargained for access to all BlackBerry services for security and militancy purpose over the internet and telecom bands. However, the company issued a statement on Thursday stating that, “… No changes can be made to the security architecture for BlackBerry Enterprise Server customers since, contrary to any rumours, the security architecture is the same around the world and RIM truly has no ability to provide its customers’ encryption keys.”
The smartphone maker explained the situation by emphasizing that it encrypts emails as they are sent from a BlackBerry device through the BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) and only the sponsoring company has the technical capability to decode these messages.
