Microsoft has confirmed sales figures of its Windows Phone 7 devices. Sure, it’s nowhere close to what Apple managed to sell their iOS-equipped iPhone 4 but it’s a good start to a fresh platform, which has garnered sales of 1.5m units over a period of 6 weeks.
Microsoft’s Achim Berg, vice president of business and marketing for Windows Phones says the company’s “expectations are realistic” and are in line with the performance of other first generation mobile platforms. However, good thing about WP7 is that the platform is gaining momentum and more mobile operators are expected to launch the devices in 2011.
Microsoft has also confirmed to release the first update to the OS in the next couple of months.
