Microsoft’s Kinect is barely out in the market for a week and we’re seeing reports about Microsoft’s Xbox 360 controller getting hacked. Adafruit had offered a $2000 bounty to develop an open source Kinect driver and looks like someone has already achieved it.
However, the hackers NUI Group that managed to hack it are not in the run for money and won’t release the exploit code in the wild.
Microsoft on the other hand is furious about this and has confirmed to CNET that they do “not condone the modification of its products…and will continue to make advances in these types of safeguards and work closely with law enforcement and product safety groups to keep Kinect tamper-resistant.”
