Research in Motion’s pact with Saudi Arabia is far from over. Now Reuters is citing a source saying that although it was decided to setup servers (for three operators) in Saudi Arabia, putting up a local server “proved impractical.”
Instead, RIM has agreed to share “codes” of all the Saudi Blackberry users, which we presume is the code that allows to decrypt messages.
This development, if true, is interesting because RIM earlier claimed that their architecture is designed in such a way that even RIM has no “backdoor” to customer data.
