UPDATE: HTC Tianxi is Windows Mobile-based device whereas Tianyi is powered by Android OS. Both the phones are TD-SCDMA equipped and will launch within couple of months.
HTC used to sell its phones under the Dopod brand name in China but today they’ve announced to sell their own branded devices in the future. They’ve tied up with China Mobile to bring more devices to the market and GOME Electrical Appliances Holding will act as national distributors.
“We are proud to introduce the HTC brand in China and look forward to bringing a fresh customer-centric smartphone experience to consumers in China,” said Cher Wang, chairman of HTC. “Together with our strategic partner Dopod, we have introduced many state-of-the-art phones over the past few years in China. HTC’s passion for innovation and its commitment to delighting people around the world are what drive us to improve the overall mobile experience in big and small ways. It is this customer-centric approach that has driven HTC’s global leadership position and has differentiated us.”
To start with the rollout, HTC has announced four new devices for the Chinese market. The phones are HTC Wildfire, Desire, Tianxi and Tianyi and feature HTC’s Sense UI.
There are no details on what these devices pack but we’ll update it as soon as we hear something.
