Nokia’s N8 device due to launch in Q3 this year will be the last Nseries device to run Symbian OS. Nokia has confirmed that after N8, all Nseries devices will be MeeGo powered.
“Going forward, Nseries devices will be based on MeeGo,” said Nokia spokesman Doug Dawson.
Although Symbian holds the largest share in the smartphone OS market, it has failed to woo customers from iPhone or Android devices. MeeGo seems to be logical move since Linux-based OS have recorded a surge in the demand.
MeeGo is a collaboration between Nokia and Intel that clubs Intel’s Moblin and Nokia’s Maemo operating systems.
