Qualcomm starts shipping 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon chipset

Qualcomm has started shipping samples of new Snapdragon SoCs that integrate two processor cores. The two third-gen dual-core Snapdragon SoCs, MSM8260 for HSPA+ and MSM8660 for multi-mode HSPA+/CDMA2000 1xEV-DO Rev. B runs at a clock speed of up to 1.2GHz and features GPU with 3D/2D acceleration engines for Open GLES 2.0, Open VG 1.1 acceleration, 1080p video encode/decode, low power audio engine, GPS and support for 24-bit WXGA 1280×800 resolution displays.

The third-gen Snapdragon family also has dual-core QSD8672 chipset that has a 1.5GHz clock speed.
