We do know that Google is jointly working with Sony and Intel to produce a set-top box enabling web browsing but this new piece in Financial Times claims that Google is ready to show off the Android-toting set-top box. Purportedly, it will be known as the Smart TV platform and is expected to go official at the Google I/O conference starting next week.
The platform will make use of Intel’s Atom chip to run Google’s Android OS and also has Sony to bring the web services directly to their televisions.
FT says the decision to reveal at the conference next week will allow Google to show off the platform and also give the developers an opportunity to develop the apps for it.
