Western Digital has introduced a new My Book external desktop storage solution for the Indian market. The My Book 3.0 comes in capacities of 1TB and 2TB (expected later this month) and supports the newer, faster SuperSpeed USB 3.0. In fact, it is one of the first devices to be certified to work flawlessly with USB 3.0.
As for the speed bumps, My Book 3.0 when plugged in a USB 3.0 port will give transfer speeds to up to 640MB/s than hooked into a USB 2.0 slot. Needless to say, this drive is also backward compatible, which means it will still work with your regular USB 2.0 or USB 1.1 ports but compromising on speed.
WD is currently selling the 1TB drive for Rs. 9,990 and if you’re in need of a USB upgrade, it comes with USB 3.0 PCIe card too. The PCIe and HDD kit will cost Rs. 11,190.
