Expectedly, Google gave the first glimpse of its Chrome OS at the Google HQ yesterday. Sundar Pichai gave a quick demo of the OS and it does look promising. The OS, which is nothing but a browser boots in 7 seconds and enables to do most of the things like checking e-mail, chat, edit office files, social networking and more within the browser via dedicated apps. Google Chrome OS will be available to consumers by end of next year but if you want to try out the OS now, they’ve open-sourced the project as Chromium OS. Developers can check through the code and compile it to make it work or if you want to make it work without doing any packaging, here’s a nifty tutorial from Techcrunch to run on VirtualBox.
