Sony introduced a trio of Walkman players yesterday in Japan. It’s the S640 and S740 from the S-Series and super thin A840 from the A-Series. The S640 and S740 are similar in features except for couple of facts like S740 comes in 8GB/16GB/32GB storage choices as compared to S640’s 8 and 16GB SKUs and S740 features noise cancellation while S640 has ambient noise filtration. Both the players come in multitude of colors and features a 2-inch LCD, FM Radio, 720×480 playback via video-out, MDR-EX300SL earphones and about 42 hours of music or 7 hours of video playback.
The new S-Series players will arrive next month with prices starting from 16,000 Yen ($155) to 25,000 Yen ($277).
Moving onto the higher side, there’s A840 PMP, Sony’s thinnest Walkman till date. Measuring 7.2mm thick, the A840 PMP packs a 2.8-inch OLED screen, digital noise cancellation, MDR-EX300SL earphones, FM Radio, 720×480 video out and storage options ranging from 16GB to 64GB. The A840 PMP promises to give up to 29 hours of audio playback and 9 hours of video. Releasing on October 31 with prices starting from 24,000 Yen ($263) to 40,000 Yen ($439).
