Apple’s much anticipated rock and roll event is over and have updated its iPod line, in addition to revealing iTunes 9 and iPhone OS 3.1. Starting with the oldest, the iPod Classic’s storage has now been bumped to 160GB for the same price of $249.
Moving onto the smallest iPod, the Shuffle has got a price cut along with five choices of colors. The controls are still placed on the earphone cords but the good thing is 3rd party manufacturers have jumped in and will sell Shuffle compatible earphones. The 2GB Shuffle now goes for $59 while 4GB for $79. A 4GB special edition polished stainless steel Shuffle will also be available for $99.
The iPod Nano is the only iPod which has got number of feature additions. New features include a larger 2.2-inch display, video camera, FM Radio with live pause, iTunes tagging, built-in pedometer, mic, speaker and Genius Mixes. The 8GB version will go for $149 and 16GB for $179.
Finally, the fastest growing iPod – the iPod touch has got a price cut, added storage, faster performance but unfortunately, no camera. A 64GB model has been added and along with the 32GB touch, integrates Open GL ES 2.0 for better graphics and up to 50 percent faster performance. Apple has apparently dropped the 16GB touch and is now selling the 8GB model for $99.99, 32GB for $299 and 64GB for $399.
Apple will bring the new iPods to India within 2 weeks. The prices are as follows:
