HTC set the standard last year when they launched Touch HD that boasted a rich hardware set like wide 3.8-inch touchscreen, HSDPA, 5MP camera, GPS and Wi-Fi but Windows Mobile 6.1 seemed to undermine these things.
Now a Register Hardware source chimes in to say that HTC is ready to unveil the Touch HD successor but will run a different OS. According to him, the Touch HD 2 will run Android OS instead of the logical WinMo 6.5 upgrade. That’s not all. HTC will also up the processor to ensure smooth running of the OS. The processor speed will be jacked up by 100MHz, which means the Touch HD 2 will have a 628MHz CPU. Rest of the specs are expected to be the same but we would really want something more to truly call it an HD and yes, a worthy successor.
