The leak on the official site way back in May has now come to fruition as Sony officially announced A500 and A550 DSLRs. Both these Alpha cameras boast the unique sensor-processor combination in the form of Exmor-BIONZ that helps to take improved quality photos in low-light scenarios. The A500 and A550 are capable of taking pictures at high sensitivity up to ISO 12800 with a max. resolution of 14.2 megapixel and 12.3 megapixel respectively.
Sony has worked on other things like improved High Dynamic Range (HDR), 3-inch LCD tilting 90 degrees up or down supporting two Live View functions like Quick AF Live View and Manual Focus Check Live View, SmileShutter, Face Detection and SteadyShot image stabilizer.
The new cameras support the latest 32GB HX Series MS PRO Duo and integrate dedicated slots for MS PRO Duo, MS PRO Duo-HG and SD/SDHC cards.
The A500 will cost $750 for the body or $850 along with 18-55 kit lens while A550 will cost $950 or $1050 with the same lens.
