Apple has confirmed the rumored August 28 as the shipping date of Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. From this Friday, Mac users will be able to pick the latest Mac OS X iteration at Apple retail stores, authorized resellers and online store.
Snow Leopard is claimed to be a 90 percent refinement of around various 1000 projects at Apple that complete the Mac OS X. For starters, it has a responsive Finder, revamped QuickTime player, 64-bit Safari 4 that is faster by up to 50 percent than 32-bit Safari 4, Dock with Exposé integration.
Apple has started taking pre-orders online wherein Mac OS X 10.5 users can order an upgrade for $29 or $49 (single user and family pack respectively). Likewise, for Mac OS X Tiger users a full retail SKU is up for grabs that includes the OS, iLife 09, iWork 09 for $169 or $229 (single user or family pack).
