PS3 as well as Xbox 360 are destined to get a price cut this fall, claims a source of Ars Technica. He says retailers have about 60 days worth of 80GB PS3 inventory, after which only 160GB will be sold. In the final leg of this year, Sony will announce PS3 Slim along with a price cut to the original PS3. The exact or likely price cut is still unknown.

On the other hand, Microsoft’s plan of action is bit different. They’ll first try to sell off Xbox 360 Pro consoles by offering solid game bundles and then lower the price of Xbox 360 Elite console that will be sold at the Pro price. The price cut is expected to be in early September.
