LG has announced two new ultra-slim LED TVs in Seoul, marking their official entry in the full LED-backlit LCD TV arena. The 55-inch models – 55LH95 and 55LH93 are touted to offer a clearer and brighter picture quality than the competition, thanks to its 3,360 LEDs, which are seven times more than the current edge-lit LED TVs.
The 24.8mm thick TV also integrates 5,000,000:1 contrast ratio with dimming technology to divide the screen into 240 blocks, 240Hz refresh rate and enhanced wireless feature that can send content wirelessly from DVD players, home-theater units without the need to compress images.
The full LED LCD TVs will hit retail markets in July 2009 with an expensive price tag of around KRW 7 million (US$ 5,500) for the 55LH93 and KRW 7.6 million (US$ 5,900) for 55LH95.
LG will also release non ultra-slim LED LCD TVs in sizes of 42- and 47-inch by the end of this year.
