UPDATE: LG will launch the monitors in three sizes – N1742L-BF (17-inch), N1941W-PF (18.5-inch) and a 15.6-inch model that will be available in other countries except US.
LG and NComputing have teamed up to launch network-based monitors dubbed as the SmartVine N-series monitors. The monitors use virtualization which in simpler terms, will allow up to 11 users to share a single host PC.
The working of this is pretty simple: A user needs to buy NComputing’s X550 PCI card, install it in the host PC, install the software and attach the SmartVine monitor into the PCI card. The keyboard and mouse can be attached right into the monitor.
LG plans to out a 19-inch SmartVine N-series monitor this month for $199 while the card will cost extra. They are claiming such technique could be very useful in service sectors and also help organizations to save a good chunk of money.
The monitors support both Windows and Linux.
