In an unexpected move, Apple is now preordering a 20-inch iMac for educational institutions that will be delivered to them in a month. The $899 iMac will include a 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 1GB RAM, GeForce 9400M GPU, 160GB HDD and an 8X SuperDrive.
Just to make things more clear, this iMac will be offered only to schools/colleges and not an individual students who buys from the Apple Education Store. With a $300 discount over the retail price, Apple is looking to leverage on the bulk orders that the institutions can give.
