This shouldn’t come as a surprise. NPD has released their December report which claims to have Nintendo Wii at the top spot. Over the year, 10.17 million units got in the hands of US customers, accounting for 55% of the total current gen console sales in 2008 making it the first ever console to cross the magical milestone of 10 million.
Report also said that despite the economic downturn, consumers invested $21.33 billion in consoles, games and accessories. This number is high from 2007’s $18 billion figure.
The sales for December also saw Wii erupt as the king. Nintendo sold 2.14 million units of Wii while Microsoft’s Xbox 360 came at second place with 1.4 million units and Sony PS3 taking up the last place with just 726,000 units.
