The rumor turned out to be true. Phil Schiller in his keynote at the Macworld 2009 announced the slimmest and the lightest 17-inch notebook. The 17-inch LED backlit screen will be a glossy one ($50 more for matte) having a 1920X1200 resolution and 60% greater color gamut than the previous 17-inch MBP. The same I/O ports find place over here as the smaller unibody Macbooks and also features Nvidia GPU – 9400M onboard while 9600M as the discrete option. New generation Core 2 Duo chips, up to 8GB RAM, 320GB HDD or 256GB SSD fill up the spec sheet.
The second rumor about the non-removable battery also turned out to be true. The new batteries are placed inside the notebook and Apple claims that these batteries could provide juice for up to 8 hours (7 hours on discrete GPU) and can be recharged 1000 times.
The Macbook Pro will arrive by the end of this month carrying a price tag of $2,799.
