Decision makers at MSI just couldn’t wait for the CES to show their creation and thus, today unveiled the world’s first netbook (even notebook) to feature Hybrid storage of SSD & HDD. Wind U115 netbook is actually capable of operating both SSD and HDD simultaneously, giving faster operating speeds of SSD and vast storage space of HDD.
U115 can be equipped either with an 8 or 16GB SSD and 120 or 160GB HDD. It uses the Hybrid Storage Technology to do the trick. Further enhancing the hybrid storage is the ECO on mode, where the netbook temporarily switches off the connection to HDD and all storing and retrieving files is done from the SSD. This mode can be activated for prolonging battery life.
The U115 will feature the new 1.6GHz single-core Intel Atom processor, Z530. Rest of the specifications as one would expect, is customary with 1GB RAM, 10-inch LED backlit screen, Windows XP Home, 4-in-1 card reader, 2 megapixel webcam, 3 USB ports, Ethernet, speakers, Wi-Fi and optional Bluetooth 2.0.
The pricing and availability are most likely to be revealed at CES.
