After making their very first SSDs for the consumers, Intel has turned its focus to target the enterprise market with its high performance SSDs for servers. Housed in a 2.5-inch shell, X-25E Extreme SATA based 32GB and 64GB SSDs will bring all the benefits to the server station.
Intel claims that its SSDs increases the server or workstation performance by up to 100 times and saves electricity up to 5 times. These SSDs boast a read/write speed of 250/170 MBps respectively and is capable of writing up to 4 petabytes (PB) of data over three-year period (3.7 TB/day) which eventually doubles up for the 64GB variant.
The 32GB drive is in production and is priced at $695 for quantities up to 1,000. The 64GB version is slated to hit the production area in the Q1 of 2009.
