We were eyeing the announcement of an updated DS by the end of the year. But Nintendo dropped the bomb early by revealing the camera equipped DSi today in Japan. The new DSi has two 0.3 megapixel cameras – one on the back and the other one on the hinge. It also sports a 3.25-inch screen which is 17 percent larger than DS Lite’s LCD. Nintendo has managed to make this thing a bit thinner which is a result of the removal of GBA slot in lieu of a SD card slot. Though Nintendo’s decision to remove the GBA slot can be shocking for some but they will be bringing back some GBA titles in their new newly announced DSi Shop which works just like the Wii Ware Shop.
DSi will launch in Japan on November 1 and will sell for 18,900 Yen ($180).
