Toshiba announced their new HDD crammed up a mammoth 240GB of storage space in a 1.8-inch housing. The new model (MK2431GAH) holds 120GB on each platter present and uses mechanical and firmware design for durability. The drive is not the fastest of the lot (running at 4,200 RPM) but it proves to be 33 percent more energy efficient than Toshiba’s previous generation 1.8-inch HDDs.
It also boasts the industry’s highest areal density making it to improve its read/write speed. The disk will enter mass production from late September.
