
Apple has officially announced the second-generation AirTag, marking the first major hardware update to its item-tracking accessory since its debut in 2021. The new model pricing remains unchanged but improves the accessory’s findability. a second-generation Ultra Wideband chip, a more powerful Bluetooth antenna, and a louder internal speaker to improve findability in difficult environments.
The new AirTag comes with the second-generation Ultra Wideband (UWB) chip—the same hardware used in the iPhone 17 and Apple Watch Series 11—which boosts the device’s Precision Finding capabilities. Users can now receive haptic and visual guidance from up to 50 percent farther away than the previous model, and it is also findable directly from the Apple Watch (Series 9, Ultra 2, or later) without the need to pull out the iPhone.
In addition to improved range, the new AirTag is fitted with a redesigned internal speaker that is 50 percent louder than the first generation, enabling users to hear the device from up to 2x farther than before.
The new AirTag also integrates Apple’s Share Item Location and has tied up with 50 airlines to privately and securely accept Share Item Location links from customers to recover delayed or lost baggage.
The second-generation AirTag is now available in the US for $29 for a single unit or $99 for a four-pack, and in India for Rs. 3,790 for a single AirTag or Rs. 12,900 for four.
