Apple unveils iPhone 16e with Apple Intelligence, A18 chip, USB-C

Apple today announced the iPhone 16e, the iPhone that kept rumormongers busy the last few weeks. The iPhone 16e steps from the shadows of the affordable iPhone SE range and brings in new features that Apple justifies it with a higher price tag.

The iPhone 16e comes with an IP68-rated exterior with a Ceramic Shield glass on the front for enhanced durability and features an action button for quick access to your favorite app. The other two visual changes are the inclusion of USB-C, making it at par with all the recent iPhones and moving from Touch ID to Face ID.

The phone has a 6.1-inch OLED Super Retina XDR display that supports HDR and a single camera module that Apple claims a “powerful 2-in-1 camera system.” The single 48MP Fusion sensor mans the main camera duties and can record videos in 4K with Dolby Vision at up to 60 fps.

Under the hood, the iPhone 16e is powered by Apple’s A18 chip that boosts drastically improves performance and enables Apple to integrate Apple Intelligence—Apple’s AI tools for iPhones. The iPhone 16e is also the first iPhone to integrate C1, which is Apple’s first-ever modem that enables 5G connectivity.

The iPhone 16e will sell in black and white colors with pre-orders slated to begin from February 21 and retail sales from February 28. The Indian pricing for the iPhone 16e starts Rs. 59,900 for 128GB and will be available 256GB and 512GB storage options as well.
