ASUS has introduced the Dual GeForce RTX 4060 Ti SSD, marking the world’s first graphics card featuring an M.2 slot. This innovative design enables a seamless cooling upgrade for high-performance NVMe® drives. Retaining all the exceptional features of the ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 8GB, including third-generation RT Cores and fourth-generation Tensor Cores with DLSS 3.5 and advanced frame generation, this graphics card delivers immersive real-time ray tracing experiences, pushing the boundaries of visual excellence in modern games.

Encased in a sleek 2.5-slot design and requiring only a single 8-pin PCIe power connector, the Dual GeForce RTX 4060 Ti SSD easily integrates into existing builds. The standout feature lies in a special cutout on the card’s rear, offering support for M.2 2280-sized NVMe drives. This makes it the first consumer graphics card with an onboard SSD slot, potentially replacing the CPU’s M.2 slot on the motherboard. The shift to a GPU-mounted M.2 solution presents compelling advantages.

Despite being a PCIe 4.0-compliant GPU, the RTX 4060 Ti SSD can leverage PCIe 5.0 speeds if both the motherboard and the NVMe drive in the system support it. ASUS recommends installing the card in the top PCIe slot for direct communication with the CPU, ensuring optimal performance without impacting graphics capabilities. The card is a straightforward solution for users requiring high-speed, long-term storage in their gaming setups.

Addressing the question of why not install the drive on the motherboard itself, the Dual GeForce RTX 4060 Ti SSD incorporates dual Axial-tech fans. These fans not only keep the graphics card cool during gaming but also effectively reduce the operating temperatures of the M.2 drive. Unlike traditional motherboard M.2 slots, the card comes with a pre-mounted thermal pad in the M.2 slot, enabling installed drives to directly benefit from the graphics card heatsink. ASUS testing revealed up to a 40% decrease in drive temperatures compared to standard motherboard-mounted M.2 slots, ensuring long-term stability and sustained read/write performance for gaming enthusiasts.
