In addition to announcing the new AirPods and HomePod mini colours, Apple also announced two new MacBook Pro notebooks. The 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro laptops join the existing 13-inch MacBook Pro with the highlight being powered by M1 Pro and M1 Max SoC.

Both the chips are a huge leap forward with the M1 Pro featuring a deca-core CPU with eight high-performance cores and two high-efficiency cores, along with a 16-core GPU that allows the M1 Pro-powered MacBook Pro deliver up to 70 percent faster CPU performance than M1, and up to 2x faster GPU performance.

The M1 Max features a similar 10-core CPU but doubles the GPU with 32-cores, memory bandwidth to up to 400GB/s and up to 64GB of unified memory. This type of power promises performance, never seen before in a prosumer laptop.

Both MacBook Pros feature a Liquid Retina XDR display, HDMI and SDXC card ports, a 1080p FaceTime HD camera that adds a notch on the display and runs macOS Monterey.
