Sony’s questionable PS5 launch strategy in India with super limited stocks and no Digital Edition in sight made it fly off the virtual shelves within seconds. However, according to a listing on Sony’s official e-commerce website, we will see the digital-only variant soon.
According to the website, the PS5 Digital Edition along with the Blu-ray-toting PS5 will be up for pre-booking from May 17 at 12 noon. There’s no word on how many units Sony will sell in this second “flash sale” but it seems the digital edition will be exclusive to Sony’s website whereas the regular PS5 will be available at other major retailers like Flipkart, Games The Shop, etc., in addition to ShopatSC.
Both the regular PS5 and the Digital Edition have the hardware prowess, unlike the Microsoft Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. The only difference between both the PS5s is the lack of Blu-ray drive in the Digital Edition, thus making it cheaper by Rs. 10,000.
