Mi TV LUX Transparent Edition

Nope, it’s not a late April Fools prank. Xiaomi has unveiled Mi TV LUX Transparent Edition during its 10-year anniversary launch event. The Mi TV LUX Transparent Edition is the world’s first mass-produced transparent TV with an edge-to-edge transparent self-luminous display that gives you an illusion of pictures floating in the air. We are not sure about the viewing experience but it certainly has the wow factor in any room you place.

Xiaomi says the TV embeds all the processing in its stand that allows to keep the screen compact and overcome a number of technical difficulties, making them the only TV brand in China to mass produce such a television.

Mi TV LUX Transparent Edition comes with an AI Master Smart Engine and is powered by MediaTek’s 9650 custom-made TV chip that boasts over 20 optimisation algorithms and dedicated optimisation that supposedly improves picture quality. As for the size, the TV has a 55-inch OLED panel with a static contrast ratio of 150000:1, DCI-P3 93% colour spectrum support, 120Hz refresh rate, 120Hz MEMC and 1ms response rate. It also supports Dolby Atmos for audio.

Just like most of Xiaomi TVs, the Mi TV LUX Transparent Edition will sell only in China and begin selling from August 16 for 49,999 RMB (approx. US$7,200).
