Pixel4
After a series of leaks of Google Pixel 4, the smartphone is now officially announced by Google. Pixel devices have a legacy for capturing amazing photos. Building upon this, the new Pixel 4 phones feature Google’s largest camera update yet. With dual cameras at the rear that now includes a telephoto lens, aided with its Super Res Zoom software, Pixel 4 claims to deliver exceptional image quality-even from a distance. Pixel 4 also lets you fine-tune brightness and amount of detail in the shadows, helping with difficult shots like sunset portraits. It also has Live HDR+ in the viewfinder which shows how your actual photos will look like. The already noteworthy Night Sight of the Pixel gets an update in the Pixel 4. The Pixel 3 and Pixel 3a will also get this camera update. The front camera is 8-megapixel.

Pixel 4 is powered by Snapdragon 855 processor, 6GB RAM and 64GB internal storage (there is also 128GB option available). The Pixel 4 and Pixel 4XL have a 5.7-inch OLED screen with 1080p+ resolution and a 6.3-inch screen with QHD+ resolution respectively. The aspect ratio of both the phones is 19:9. The display in both the phones is 90Hz and it adjusts the display rate as per the app requirements. The phone is protected by Gorilla Glass 5 at the front and the back. Pixel 4 also includes Google’s custom-built Titan M security chip to protect your sensitive data and ensure the integrity of the operating system. The phone runs on Android 10 and will get monthly security updates for 3 years. Pixel 4 comes with 2800mAh battery and the Pixel 4 XL with 3700mAh battery and both the phone support 18W fast charging.

Apart from this, there are new software that Pixel 4 series comes with. For instance, the enhanced Google Assistant and
Pixel 4’s Motion Sense feature that uses a radar sensor to detect movement around the phone. It can sense when you’re reaching for the phone and will initiate face unlock, or turn off your screen when you’re not around. New Quick Gestures let you skip songs when you don’t want to pick up your phone. Just wave your hand to snooze alarms, dismiss timers, or silence your phone ringer. Motion Sense is enabled everywhere Pixel 4 is sold, except in Japan where it’s coming soon.

Pixel 4’s new Recorder app records meetings, lectures, jam sessions—anything you want to save and listen to later—and simultaneously transcribes speech and identifies sounds like music and applause. You can easily search within your recordings to quickly find a specific word or sound. All of this happens on-device. As of now, only English language is supported with other languages to be added soon.

In the US, Google has expanded its partnership with more carriers. You can pre-order Pixel 4 for USD 799 and Pixel 4 XL for USD 899. The phones will ship from 24 October. Pixel 4 comes in three colours – Clearly White, Just Black, and a limited edition, Oh So Orange.

Will Google Pixel 4/XL come to India?
As of now, there is no official word from Google with Pixel 4’s availability in India. However, speculation in the industry is that Google will not get Pixel 4 anytime soon in India as it requires approval for the Soli motion sense radar to be used on the phone which Google is yet to receive in India.
