Huawei at the IFA 2019 unveiled their flagship processor, the Kirin 990 and Kirin 990 (5G). This new processor will also be seen in the soon to be launched Mate 30 series phones in Europe. The Kirin 5G processor integrates the 5G modem on the chip which makes it power efficient and consumes less space in the device. The new processors have enhanced AI capabilities and better imaging technology. Recently, Samsung also unveiled its Exynos 980 SoC with integrated 5G modem. Both processors are based on the 7nm form factor and feature 16-core Mali 676 GPU. The Kirin 990 5G features dual NPU for better AI performance.
Huawei will be launching Mate 30 flagship phones later this month, however, it would not feature Google services and Goolge Apps but rather run on Open Source version of Android.
